Peter Kuria Mburu was born in 1962 in Gikambura, Kikuyu and attended local primary and secondary schools. He trained as a teacher in Kagumo Teachers’ College from 1982-1984. In 1998, he joined Kenyatta University and graduated with a Bachelor’s in Education (Special Education) First Class Honours (2001). He graduated from the same university with a MA in Linguistics (2005) and a PhD in Linguistics (Phonology) (2021).
Peter has taught in primary, secondary schools and colleges. He has also taught in the University of Nairobi, Kenyatta University, Mt. Kenya University, Murang’a University of Technology, Pioneer International University, and Universite de Djibouti. He is married with three children.
